How your gut and productivity are connected

I wonder if you’ve seen the news on this lately. The emerging science behind gut health and productivity.

It’s pretty astounding.

Scientists are discovering that there’s a second brain inside the gut.

And that digestive health has a HUGE influence on everything going on in our bodies.

Including mental health. It’s fascinating.

So today, I wanna talk about the connection between your gut and your productivity.

Which doesn’t just mean that it’s hard to concentrate when you’re hungry. LOL

Which IS true… but that’s not the only impact it has on getting shiz done.

You’re gonna learn 3 hacks to prime your digestive tract for optimal performance. In your biz AND in your life.

And speaking of biz performance… the craziest thing happened the other day.

I was putting the final touches on my brand spanking new Instagram Tutorial Workshop… more on that in a second…

...and I completely blanked out on a certain word I was looking for.

Does that ever happen to you?

Like, you KNOW you know the word.

But your brain is like: nope. Does not compute.

I had a quick mini freakout.

Like… is this it?

Am I now developing dementia? Is this how it all starts???

A quick inquiry to Dr. Google let me know that no… it’s probably not long-term memory loss…

I probably just needed to eat something.

Because memory can be affected by gut health.

So I grabbed a little bowl of cashews, took some deep breaths… and tried to give myself a bit of grace.

And it worked.

By the way, the word I was looking for was “Highlights”...

...which is an Instagram feature I teach you about inside my Instagram Tutorial Workshop I’m hosting on Tuesday, July 13 and Wednesday, July 14.

Anyway, so let’s go back to gut health for a sec, ok?

I know it’s not the sexiest topic but it’s actually super important for productivity.

Because there’s this thing called the “gut-brain axis”.

Which is an emerging area of science that shows how a weak gut lining can negatively impact brain health.

See, your digestive tract can become kind of porous if you aren’t taking care of it.

And what happens inside your gut?

It separates nutrients from toxins.

Basically stripping out things your body doesn’t need and keeping what it does.

If your gut is healthy, it pushes those toxins further into your system to the right organs that process them.

But if you have a weak gut lining, those toxins can leak out of your digestive tract and into the rest of your body.

AKA straight to your brain.

It’s kinda crazy how this works, but this phenomenon called “leaky gut, leaky brain” has shown a connection between gut health and things like:

  • Brain fog.
  • Impaired memory and recall.
  • Anxiety and depression.
  • Even serious conditions like dementia and Alzheimers.

So yeah, you can see how it’s tied to your productivity, right? Now here’s the good news… this means that you can literally improve your brain function by improving your gut function.

And there are tons of ways to do this naturally… through lifestyle AND diet.

So let’s talk about 3 of them.

Hack #1: Drink water.

Do you feel like drinking more water is the solution for pretty much every problem?

  • Dull, dry skin? Drink more water.
  • Got a headache? Drink more water.
  • Missed your airplane? Drink more water. LOL
Ok, well maybe that one doesn’t work but there’s probably a water-related reason you were late to the airport.

So go ahead and do it anyway. LOL

In a way, water IS the solution for most health-related things.

See, drinking pure, clean water literally flushes your system.

It’s the #1 thing we need to keep our bodies in top performing condition.

Think about what you do when something gets gunked up or stuck.

Like a pipe.

You flush water through it to clear it, right?

Same thing for our bodies.

If you suck at drinking water, here’s a hack for ya.

Add some citrus essential oils to it. Or get one of those fruit infusers for your Brita or water bottle.
Because many of us don’t like the taste of plain water.

And humans are pleasure-seekers by nature.

So if we don’t like something, it’s harder to get us to do it.

My fav essential oil flavors to add to water are Wild Orange and Tangerine.

I literally put a few drops into my reusable water bottle and lug it around with me all day.

Works like magic.

Ok let’s go to hack #2.

The second thing you can do to improve your gut health -- AND your productivity -- is to…

Add turmeric into your diet.

Turmeric is a super hot topic right now because it’s an insanely powerful spice for inflammation.

If you get bloated after eating certain foods, that’s a symptom of inflammation.

Really drowsy? That’s inflammation.

Gurgly belly? Same thing.

Turmeric will help train your body to have a healthier response to inflammation and mitigate the effects.

Here’s some super easy ways to add turmeric into your diet…

  1. You can sprinkle it into your food or into your morning smoothie.
  2. You can pop a supplement… Or
  3. you can get yourself some amazing turmeric essential oils. It won’t take long to feel a difference.
Now here’s a pro tip about turmeric I learned the hard way.

If you use the actual spice… be careful with it.

It can stain.

One time I was at a friend’s house and I spilled a little turmeric on her cream-colored kitchen countertops.

Totally didn’t see it for a good half hour.

My arm still hurts from the scrubbing it took to get it off. LOL

But don’t let that stop you from using turmeric.

Just be mindful and wash your hands thoroughly after using it.

Unless you like bright yellow surprises. LOL

Let’s move on to the third hack for gut health and optimal productivity.

Fermented foods.

Foods like kombucha.

It’s having a moment right now.

Seriously, I love pouring my Health-Ade kombucha into a glass of ice and sitting on my patio here at the beach.

It’s like the perfect summertime drink.

Not only is it delicious but it’s great for digestive health.

Eating fermented foods -- like kombucha -- can boost the good bacteria found in your gut.

Which means you’re strengthening your gut-brain axis naturally.

You can also go with foods like probiotic yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi.

They’re easy to find in most grocery stores and are super beneficial for gut health.

If those aren’t your jam, look into prebiotics and probiotic supplements to bring some good bacteria into your gut and even things out for ya.

Here’s what I know to be true…

If you’re not healthy in your body, mind, and emotions… your productivity is gonna suffer.

Your work is gonna suffer… which means your biz is going to suffer.

Now of course you can approach all of this from the inside out… which IS ideal.

But it’s not the full story.

So let me ask you a question…

How’s your biz going? Do you feel like you’re firing on all cylinders?

Like you’ve optimized your reach… your sales… like you’re at the level you wanna be at?

If not, I’m curious if you have a game plan.

In fact, this has been on my mind lately, so I started asking this question to my community on social media.
And here’s what I found.

People are afraid to say when they don’t know how to do something.

For example, I’ve been running weekly trainings about growing your biz online and I get lots of people who sign up.

But I don’t see a lot of action being taken.
This was troubling to me.

Finally, I slid into the DMs of a few people who I know are gung-ho about their biz.
And I asked them what’s going on.

What I FINALLY got down to… after a lot of coaching questions… LOL…

Is that there are a few key knowledge gaps in the online space that are causing fear.

One in particular is Instagram.

Like, people know they need to use Instagram for their biz… but they freeze up.

Because they aren’t confident in the technical aspect of it.

“I don’t want to look stupid,” said one of them.

Another person said, “I don’t really know what I’m doing so I only stick with what I know I can do.”

Every single person I talked with said they knew that by not leveraging social platforms like Instagram... they were leaving money on the table.
But their fear was bigger than their desire to make more money.

This is an easily-solved problem.

So that’s why I put together this Instagram Tutorial Workshop.

Notice the word “tutorial” here.

Because that’s what this is.

Literally step by step on the key features of Instagram you’re probably not using.

Sure, you’ve got the standard “post, caption, filter” thing down from using Instagram personally…

But do you know how to use Reels? Or Live? Or create carousel posts?

Or those Highlights I had a brain fart about earlier? LOL

If technical know-how… and fear of looking like a fool because you’re not confident in using these features is what’s holding you back?

Babe, I got a message for ya.

Come to my workshop and I’ll show ya how to do everything you need to do on Instagram.

You’ll walk away feeling more confident like you know what the heck you’re doing there.

So you’re more comfortable trying it for your biz. And practicing!

Seriously, if that’s the thing stopping you from going after the success you desire… I can help.

I WILL help.

Now, this online workshop is $97. BUT…

If you join me LIVE… you can be my guest.
