Fuel Your Body and Your Mind with a Plant-Based Diet (+ WHY I Went Vegan)

Whew. Life.

Can you slow down for one second?!

I’ve been on seven trips since January, moved into a new friggin’ house, lived through a sewage leak, dealt with changes in my biz and lived it up in Bali…

I love my life, but wow, sometimes I’m like, how do I do it?!

Actually, scratch that. I do it because I have the fuel, the energy and the drive.

And that is a result of what I put into my body on the daily.

Yah, I’m talking food. A plant-based diet fuels me on a daily basis to get through whatever life throws my way. I’m living the vegan dream.

I’ve said it before sister and I’ll say it again...

No matter what — your ability to absorb and digest food is 100 million bajillion percent related to the way that you feel.

I guarantee if you make some changes to the way you eat — your smile will be bigger, your mood will be lighter, your skin will be brighter, and you’ll be able to conquer the world.

It’s all about putting good nutrients in your body (micro and macro), high quality supplements and reducing inflammation.

People ask me all the time WHY I went vegan. The answer isn’t so much that I felt bad for the animals (don’t get me wrong, I love those cute little baby cows as much as the next person) — the deeper reason I made the shift was for health reasons.

I was feeling super low energy, I had major tummy issues, my skin looked dull and overall, I just felt shitty.

So whether you’re feeling the same and/or have IBS, trouble digesting, not sleeping well...maybe it’s time you make a change too.

As a health coach, I see women dealing with these issues every day. So I’m here to help.

A vegan’s guide to battling inflammation

Some of you aren’t ready to go “full-vegan” and that’s okay. Let’s keep it simple and talk about a plant-based diet.

Chronic inflammation, simply put, can lead to chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and arthritis… just to name a few.

And your overall diet and health can either battle inflammation or make it worse.

Not to mention affect your gut health...it’s all related.

Studies are showing a plant-based diet may be the key in reducing inflammation in our bodies.

I know it worked for me.

Whole grains, leafy greens, fruits and veggies, turmeric, nuts and seeds, garlic...these are your friends!

Plus eating fermented foods (like kimchi, kefir, and sauerkraut) will totally help your gut as well.

Want more energy? Supplements are your buds

A whole-food, plant-based diet will do wonders for your bod. And being a vegan takes that to the next level…

So I highly recommend supplements to round out your daily nutritional requirements.

Because it’s not just about what you ingest, it’s about how you digest it.

I highly recommend doTerra’s Lifelong Vitality pack — these little power packs give you all the vitamins, minerals, omegas, and phytonutrients you need for optimal cellular vitality. Your cells work hard for you and when you fuel them with the building blocks you need to thrive, they’ll repay you in increased energy and cellular protection.

I also take a probiotic supplement call PB assist. Why would you need one? Because your body is made up of more bacteria than it is actual human cells! A healthy microbiome has been linked to a stronger immune system, better mental health, increased energy, and much more.

Terrazyme is a digestive enzyme that’s saved my life many times. I take at least 3 a day and these, in combo with the probiotics have transformed my digestion.

I keep my metabolism in tip top shape with Slim and Sassy, an all natural metabolic blend that helps balance blood sugar, curb cravings, and suppress appetite.

Lastly, DDR prime is my fave next level supplement for getting extra nutrients and taking my nutrition to the next level. Bonus points that it slows ageing and protects against oxidative stress.

And if you want to keep it simple, consider taking Omega 3’s and a simple wholefoods multivitamin supplement.

And don’t even get me started on essential oils. There are so many you can take that will transform your digestion and inflammation even further…. Like ginger, peppermint, fennel, caraway seed, turmeric, lemon, grapefruit — the list goes on.

Finding your unique balance point

Our mind-body connection is a magical thing.

And I know for some of you, finding that connection can be hard.

It could be due to emotional trauma, life events and so much more…

But I really truly feel it’s the key to consciously creating the healthy life you dream of.

When you realize how your physical health affects your mental health, the doors to real wellness open.

Exercise, essential oils, self-care, sleep, personal development, battling your inner mean girl, gratitude, eating well — all these things work together to create balance.

Let’s inspire each other to make some positive changes!
